of late

in no particular order special scenes of late: a picnic in Bendigo / blue through the oaks / swooning at the woollen mills / a tiny cardigan for a soon-to-be-born niece / nasturtiums abloom / beetroot straight from the garden / and into delicious brownies / wearing a handmade blouse on a hot hot day / the dry summer scape / popcorn petunias by the door / child in boat sailing on grass... makes the heart full indeed. happy saturday to you xx
(especially delicious) Beetroot, Hazelnut, Chocolate Brownies
- gluten free, of course -

100g dark chocolate
150g butter
3/4 cups sugar
1 cup freshly grated beetroot (about 1 large beetroot, peeled)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
5 eggs
1/4 cup cacao powder
1 1/2 cups hazelnut meal/ground
1 teaspoon gluten free baking powder
1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Preheat oven to 170'c. Melt chocolate and butter in a saucepan on a low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, beetroot and vanilla bean. Add eggs one at a time - stirring well with a wooden spoon. Add cacao, hazelnut, baking powder and salt and stir to combine. Pour batter into a paper-lined square baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool before cutting.
