tasting the breeze

all about me growing,
glowing things -
the sun finds us again
and we offer up joyful voices and bare feet,
a seven-week old child
breaks into a smile,
dust is finally gathered up
sheets washed,
hearts air-dried
and bleached pure white
again,
mouths renewed
with artichokes, asparagus,
oranges, smoky tea -
hands are busily threading
a little blossom for the home,
we are alive
we are stretching out winter wings
and tasting the breeze on our tongues.
