an ode to the quiet stirring

oh autumn,
I thought I better get my ode for you early this year -

after all,
we've only got a few more days together

you know you are my favourite,
the way you gently prickle my ears
with songs from the tree tops,
you are golden,
feathery,
lamb's wool warm
against my neck and toes

you are for me
more than a change of season,
but something stirring
quietly in my soul
each time you come -

right now
the tiny sounds
of a tear down my cheek,
a sigh at sunshine,
grace afresh,
wonder,

autumn.

  1. Nice poem. Something about autumn inspires one to write poetry eh.
